Let's face it.

Let's face it: living in New York City, especially while attending a competitive school like Columbia, is exhausting. We're here to help our community as the Class of 2028. Our platform addresses simple modes of action while simultaneously establishing complex, long-term goals.

1. Humanize our Social Connections

The changing leaves and seasonal depression don't have to be your only indicator that we're transitioning into a new season! As your class cabinet, Humane intends to host community events to usher in the (challenging) transition into new seasons. This would account for a decent yet meaningful part of our budget for the 2024-25 school year.

Winter: snowball fight, snowman building challenge, and hot chocolate + espresso (directly proceeding or following the Tree Lighting Ceremony)

Spring: a co-cultural night market that fills College Walk with street food stalls and games. We plan to make space for different cultural clubs to join in, as well as dining halls and local community restaurants.

Summer: What could be better than a barbeque on Butler Lawns with free food and water guns?

2. More Mixers, More People.

We personally loved the affinity group mixers at the start of the school year. Humane intends to host similar events for those of both different and same backgrounds to meet at, naturally. We'll collaborate with the Columbia College Alumni Association for some events for students, which we think would get (you all) excited and out of a corruptive studying cycle in Butler. (Butler we love you no hate)

3. Mentorship Opportunities

Mentors, for the extend of human history, have been critical parts of culture and the development of offspring (like us). Mentors can be anyone; teachers, security guards, facility employees, CEOs, etc. We learn from the experiences of those who have been on Mother Earth longer than us, so we want to create meaningful, genuine connections with mentors. More events with experienced, meaningful people:

ie. Symposiums, 1 on 1 talks with industry experts, and places for CC28 to feel welcomed amongst other human beings.
