Student Life
Overview
Though this is the simplest part of our platform, it is by no means the least important. As students, we want to create change that makes our day-to-day lives better that we often may not even think about. At the end of the day, it's the little things in life that make it worth living. The following three items are not just actionable, but budget-efficient, allowing us to pour more into other activities and initiatives.
1. No More Powdered Eggs in Dining Halls
We're paying tens of thousands of dollars to be here. Come on, we can do better than powdered eggs!
2. Merch Giveaways That We Actually Want
It's not like we don't like the slew of tote bags, t-shirts, and lanyards that we get. However, we can do a lot better. Why not do giveaways for things like puffer jackets, stuffed animals, backpacks, hoodies, and more? We also hope to use any leftover budgets to buy items that we can hand out from blackout shades for our dorms to over-the-door mini basketball hoops.
3. Water Fountain Filters
This one is simple: lots of the filters in the water fountains in first-year residence halls are on yellow (declining) or red (bad) status. Lion's Roar intends to work with Columbia Facilities to ensure that this is changed as soon as possible.
